|Green, orange and rainbow striped earrings|
Diagonal stripes of assorted colours are used in the main body of these earrings. As always the beads used in this are of exquisite quality, and the earwires are sterling silver.|
The technique I use when making these earrings is not loomwork it's a handweaving technique called brick stitch. This adds to the individuality of each piece and also makes the beadwork really flexible. They hang beautifully when worn. For more information on brick stitch, please click here.
The colours I have used in these earrings are black lined, firepolished beads. This means the surface of the bead is a transparent, rainbow of colours and the core of the bead (where the thread goes through) is black. These beads have to be seen to really be appreciated. I also used forrest green, frosted finish seed beads. The frosted finish gives these beads a wonderful texture. Then burnt orange, silver lined seed beads. Each and every one of these beads has a silver lining so they sparkle amazingly. The fringe is finished of with some bugle beads, which are green with silver, twisty linings. These are lovely long bugle beads. The silver lining makes them sparkle, but the lining is also slightly twisty so they have even more texture and sheen to them. This bead is also used in the main body of the earring.
The total length of the earrings from top of the loop to bottom of the longest middle fringe is 6.5cm. The fringe on this frames the face beautifully and moves amazingly.
Each pair of earrings takes about 2 hours to make.
